A GUIDE TO WORKING-OUT FROM HOME

One of the first things that was shut in this pandemic was the all of the gyms and fitness hubs. With all those dumb bells and machines eating dust inside the buildings, we opted for working-out from home just as we accepted WFH. A healthy fitness regime is an integral part of one’s life, especially in trying times like these- working out can be one of the ways that keeps you grounded and mentally sane. There’s also been a surge of people who have decided to work on their fitness in this lockdown and went ham on all the workout videos posted online. It saves great deal of money on subscriptions and travelling and you can literally just workout the moment you feel motivated. (Yes there’s scarcity in motivation for everyone and no you’re not alone). You just need a room big enough that you don’t hit the ceiling every time you do burpees. While there’s been a huge sale of work-out equipment's and yoga mats, you wouldn’t need anything extra to complete a basic routine to keep yourself in shape. Here is a list of exercises you should do to get yourself going:

  1. Push-ups: This is one of the most core and effective exercise that will give your great results. It’s the single most exercise that strains almost every major muscle in your body and strengthens your chest and arms. There are various regimes online that show a body transformation when you just complete around 100 pushups a day and the results are astonishing. It is hands down one of the most basic and effective exercise and will get your torso in shape.
  2. Body weight squats: Squats are one of the most essential exercise as they target all of your lower body. The hatred towards leg day is pretty real but you do not want to skip this exercise. It does wonders for your quads, thighs, hips and core and takes your strength onto the next level. Consistent sets of these will also better your maneuverability and balance.
  3. Skipping: This is one of the most efficient fat burning exercise that can be practiced very easily. Most of us used to play around in our childhood but we are not fully aware of its advantages. This exercise increases metabolism by escalating your heart rate and also works on calves and forearms. Jump rope is far better than your gym list or routine and is easily doable at home.
  4. Crunches: This is a textbook exercise to cut abdominal fats and develop sharp abs. While the crunch is a popular core move, it isn’t safe for everyone. It can place a lot of stress on your back and neck, and it only works your abs, not the other muscles in your core. It is beginner friendly and has lot of variation styles in case the workout seems monotonous.
  5. Lunges: Walking Lungs is a great exercise to works on if you want to strengthen hip and develop thigh muscles. It also strengthens your glutes, hams, lower back, quads. With its numerous benefits walking lunges is effective in building core strength.
